i dont think so, cause i experience before, my friend catch one 5.5kg GT in paypond at singapore pasit ris.
And that GT still got one breaked line with double hook inside its mouth...

Based on all the stories and personal experiences, the fish can eat, and grow to a very big size even after the hook is inside their mouth!!

People are only guessing fish will not feel pain, due to logic that is fish feel pain then it should will not fight with you when it get hooked.

Base on what i know the fish won't eat for few day (may be 1 or 2 or may more )after been hook then it still will get food also same like us even pain ,but from a magazine i saw long time ago thats if the fish cannot split out the hook from mouth,then after a long time it will come out some things like gel from the place thats been hook and the gel is work as a sheild to protect the wound ,that will make it no pain and survive  the following life challenge
